The mobility manager at Victor Valley Transit Authority is pleased to announce a number of new developments and travel services which will help to enhance the quality and level of access to VVTA's services enjoyed by residents of the High Desert Region.

VVTA's mobility manager (Aaron Moore), has recently begun working with staff at the High Desert branch of the San Bernardino County Department of Behavioral Health and the Mountain Desert Special Education Local Plan Area (SELPA) in order to develop travel training and mobility facilitation programs designed to specifically address the needs of these agencies clientele.  The mobility manager at VVTA is also actively working to incorporate other agencies into the planning and program development phases of the VVTA Travel Training program.  These programs will help enable underserved and disadvantaged members of the High Desert region to access VVTA's fixed route services to meet their transportation needs.

In conjunction with the developments in the arena of travel training, VVTA's mobility manager has also worked to enhance the existent Bus Buddies program.  Under the new program volunteers will be able to assist elderly and disabled individuals become acquainted with VVTA's services.  These volunteers will also function as Ambassadors for VVTA and be able to assist other individuals unfamiliar with the transit services offered by VVTA.  Individuals interested in becoming a Bus Buddy are encouraged to contact the Mobility Manager at VVTA via email (amoore@vvta.org) or to apply to receive information regarding the program at the following link:

Finally, VVTA's Mobility Manager has been working with the nonprofit organizations Desert Manna and the Victor Valley Community Serivices Counsel to obtain grant funding to support the operation of their transportation programs.  VVTA is also in the process of donating a couple of the vehicles from its retired fleet to help these programs transport more people and increase the efficiency and capacity of their transportation programs.  On a related note, VVTA's Mobility Manager is also reaching out to other agencies to determine if similar arrangements and partnerships can be established in order increase the fluidity of transportation, as well as the level of access to transportation services throughout the High Desert.  Interested organizations should contact the Mobility Manager at VVTA (amoore@vvta.org, 760-995-3560).
